It’s nearly spring and the majority of the works in Beddington Park are heading towards completion!
The lake

The paths around the lake are due to be fully re-opened shortly. A big thank you for your patience whilst the work has been carried out. It has been a long and complex piece of work but we are thrilled to see the lake look so deep and clear! The new timber edging has also helped smarten it up. The final step will be planting and landscaping the islands and edges to rejuvenate the habitat for the wildlife, which will happen later this year. There will be ongoing work to make good areas damaged by vehicle movements and, as a reminder, the silt has to remain in place drying a bit longer. So we still have some way to go before our park is back to its best, but we are sure it will be worth it when it gets there.
The Playground
Those who have visited the park recently will have seen the playground rapidly progressing and it is really coming to life now! The equipment has been installed, the paths shaped, benches put in place and landscaping is now underway. We have been hit by recent poor weather and this has had an impact on progress. The team continue to work incredibly hard to get the work complete but we want to ensure that the playground is safe and the landscape work bedded in (to continue looking beautiful!) which means the reopening of the playground will be delayed past Easter. We’re sorry for any disappointment. We know you are itching to get in there and we can’t wait for the work to be finished and the playground open for you to explore and play!
Other works
  • Trees have been planted across the site. These are a mix of larger trees and small whips. Hundreds of whips have been planted by members of the community, with more to be planted by school groups and volunteers.
  • New signage and interpretation panels are being installed as we speak! They will soon be revealed, with lots of lovely information for you to read about the park.
