Wallington library closed for partial refurbishment

Following the successful revamp of Sutton Central Library, Wallington Library will close for six weeks next week for a partial refurbishment. The library will close on 25 June and is due to reopen on 4 August. The children’s library will have new carpets and be redecorated, while behind the scenes improvements include a new fire detection system.

During the closure extra study space will be made available at Westcroft and Phoenix libraries.

London Borough of Sutton is developing a new office space in the 1st floor of Wallington Library. This office will be used for a new Health and Social Care integrated team that will be working together to support Wallington residents. This is a joint initiative between London Borough of Sutton Adult Social Services and Sutton NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.

The Health and Social Care Integrated team will move into the new office area following completion of the work.

To enable the space for the new office area, work will also take place to develop a new Library staff office on the first floor.The Mallinson room will become a joint meeting room and study space with a refreshment point for hirers to make their own tea and coffee, and new tables and chairs sympathetic to the existing decor which will not be changed. Tables and chairs will provide extra study spaces when required and non fiction books will remain on the top floor.
