Lidl is moving into Hackbridge as part of New Mill development

RESIDENTS at Barratt London’s New Mill Quarter development in Hackbridge will soon be able to pick up their weekly shop from the country’s fourth biggest supermarket retailer (in terms of store numbers) right on their doorstep.

Supermarket giant Lidl has confirmed that it has signed an agreement to deliver a multi-million pound new 1,600sqm store at the site. The new supermarket, which will feature an in-store bakery with freshly baked bread and pastries available every day, will open in 2020, creating around 40 jobs.

Pam Reardon, Sales Director at Barratt East London, said: “This is good news for New Mill Quarter, and for all the people of Hackbridge, who will now have a convenient, good quality place to shop in a fantastic location, neighbouring Hackbridge Station.”

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Chris Young-Wootton, commented: “We are delighted to be opening a new store in Hackbridge, which marks another milestone in our ambitious store expansion programme. We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to offering our quality products and incredible value to shoppers in the area.”

  1. Please bring a big Sainsbury’s too!

  2. Pls bring an Aldi as well!! No Aldi in Sutton at all!!

  3. I’ve been waiting for big Sainsbury’s for 5 years as I was informed there is a plan for it when buying a flat here. Why Lidl?? Why not Sainsbury’s or Tesco???
