Sutton Wire deals this week with:
- School place crisis in Sutton – a new secondary school is confirmed for Rosehill run by Greenshaw, but it won’t open before September 2021 and may not be ready until September 2022. But that will leave over 300 children leaving primary school in 2020 without a secondary school place, and possibly another 320 in 2021. The task of providing so many temporary school places falls to the council who as yet do not have a plan. This problem has been brewing for about 5 years, so I run through the history of why the schools weren’t just built on time.
- The council has noticed that getting in touch to deal with an issue can be difficult and frustrating, so they’ve launched a new Customer Access Strategy to address it. I discuss this with Cllr David Hicks, Conservative Deputy Leader.
