The Big Lunch event is a national initiative taking place on 1-2 June 2019, and is a great way to get to know your neighbours and build community spirit.
The Big Lunch is about millions of people getting together to share food, have fun and get to know each other better. It’s a simple idea – that for a few glorious hours, cars stop, shyness stops and neighbours come together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, plan and laugh.
“Sutton Council fully supports our community in organising The Big Lunch events and is waiving the fees for road closures and parking suspensions for Big Lunch street parties taking place – taking place seven days either side of these dates,” said a spokesperson
“More information on applying to hold a street party for the Big Lunch can be found on the council website. Make sure you allow plenty of time to plan your event and engage you’re your neighbours early!”
The deadline for Big Lunch street party applications is 5pm on Friday 29 March 2019.
