Parents and supporters of those families with Special Educational Needs who launched a group to help highlight and hopefully remove difficulties that they are facing in getting an Education and Health Plan have seen strong support for their campaign. So much so that they have launched a petition to be sent to Ofsted along side a letter urging a wide range review and change to the current process.

“We have seen some terrific support and now have compiled a detailed letter which we wish to send to Ofsted which clearly highlights our issues but also puts down a range of solutions. We feel that a petition alongside this letter will have even greater weight to our campaign to get change,” said a spokesperson.

An Education, Health and Care plan (“EHC plan”) is a legal document which describes a child or young person’s special educational needs, the support they need, and the outcomes they would like to achieve.

“The group has a mission is to force the Sutton local authority to change the way that they assess and subsequently treat families. Hopefully making the process fairer and less stressful,” said a spokesperson.
