First art competition launched as part of Heritage Week

The London Borough of Sutton’s Cultural Services is pleased to announce their first art competition.

As a response to Heritage Week the Cultural Services are inviting residents to produce artworks representing, or inspired by, one of the London Borough of Sutton’s notable buildings or panoramas. These include, but are not limited to, locations such as Whitehall Historic House, Russettings Villa, Honeywood Museum, Little Holland House, or the Green
Wall in the High Street.

The Cultural Services encourage artworks of any medium. Photographs, videos, painting, collages, fabric and any other materials are welcome.

The artworks received will be displayed in Sutton Central Library’s Art Gallery Space for a three-weeks long exhibition starting on the 19th September 2019.

Sutton’s Cultural Services, in partnership with Sutton’s Register Office will be giving away 4 prizes: Professional Artist, Amateur Artist, Young Person (under 25 years old) and Child (under 12 years old). The winner of each category will be awarded with a gift voucher to buy some  fantastic art supplies and the London Borough of Sutton will host a prize giving ceremony.

Artworks must be received at Sutton Central Library before 15th September 2019, ready to be exhibited. Digital creations requiring screen-displays can be emailed directly to [email protected] All participants will be required to fill out a Google Form on submission.

Submissions are limited to one artwork per person across all categories. Please note that the competition could close early if a large number of artworks are submitted, follow the London Borough of Sutton Cultural Services Social Media for updates.
