The session is part of the continuous development work that the organisation offers to parents for children aged up to eight years of age with delayed development and SEND.

The session was undertaken by Nursery Nurse Sarah Mills who has already given training to nearly 30 families with further plans to deliver more workshops in January & March 2020.

“Toilet training a child with developmental delays can be challenging and children with these difficulties might need different strategies, a longer time to learn the process, and different interventions and support strategies to help them become independent.  It’s lovely to see the parents learning different ideas from each other on the course, understanding the physiology of what is required to be ‘toilet ready’, developing the confidence to tackle toileting and from the feedback so far – there have been some wonderful successes,” said a spokesperson.

“PlayWise aims to support families on their journey with a child with additional needs/ disability. We provide a safe and fun environment for children to be themselves and for parents to meet other families.”
