Police warning after elderly man robbed of £2000 in distraction burglary.
An elderly Sutton resident was robbed of £2000 after two men knocked on his door to speak to him about his roof. They did not offer to do work but one of them did ask to use his toilet, the scammer was allowed in and went upstairs unaccompanied and stole £2000 in cash from the victim’s bedroom along with a savings book.
The two men, who wore plain clothes were described as white British and aged around 50.

If you receive an unexpected knock on the door and you are unsure of the person’s credentials, do not answer the door, do not let them in, and never let anyone roam your house unaccompanied!
