|On 22 October 2020, the Chancellor announced a range of additional support measures for businesses due to COVID-19. This included additional support for businesses in areas within Tier 2 Local Covid alert level such as Sutton.|
“We understand that Sutton Council will be allocated funding to provide grant support to business in the hospitality, accommodation and leisure sectors which have been severely impacted by reduced demand caused by Tier 2 restrictions on socialising,” said a spokesperson
“On Thursday 5 November 2020, a new national lockdown expected to last until 2 December 2020 came into effect. The Government announced a new financial support package to support businesses through this.”
“Businesses required to close under the new lockdown restrictions will be able to apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for the period 5 November 2020 to 2 December 2020. The size of the grant will be based on rateable values:
Properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under would receive a grant of up to £1,334.00 (or £667.00 for each 2 week qualifying period)
Properties with a rateable value of over £15,000 and below £51,000 would receive a grant for up to £2,000.00 (or £1,000.00 for each 2 week qualifying period)
Properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over would receive a grant of up to £3,000.00 (or £1,500.00 for each 2 week qualifying period)
“The Council will also receive funding for a discretionary ‘Additional Restrictions Grant’ to support businesses. “
“You will be able to apply for these grants online through the Council website. However, at the moment we can only accept applications under the national lockdown scheme.
We will update the application process for the discretionary and Tier 2 schemes as soon as possible.”
